What Does a Tuner Do Anyway?

A tuner listens to the frequency, or “pitch,” of the note you’re playing, and tells you whether it’s lower or higher than the note you’re aiming for. The pattern holds still when the note is in tune and appears to drift one way when flat, the other when sharp, moving faster the further off you are.
